I don’t post a lot of TV News but there were a couple interesting things that happened this week that will effect these two shows.
1) Betty’s love interest Henry will be leaving on Ugly Betty. I only watched a couple episodes but when I did the best thing about them was Henry and Betty’s interaction. Unfortunately he’s leaving the show; it wont really affect me at all but Marlyn might be interested.
Christopher Gorham, who plays the endearing accountant Henry on “Ugly Betty,” has left the show to co-star on CBS’ midseason drama “Harper’s Island.”
The serialized horror story revolves around a group of friends who meet on an island off the Seattle coast for a destination wedding. Gorham will play the groom-to-be, also called Henry.
On ABC’s “Ugly Betty,” the rivalry between Henry and Gio (Freddy Rodriguez) for Betty’s (America Ferrera) heart culminated in the Season 2 finale where the final scene showed Betty seemingly making her choice, but the lucky guy was not revealed.
Rodriguez, who has features lined up, is not expected to come back for more than one episode.
That means a new love life for Betty. She is not expected to stay on the sidelines for long; hunk Val Emmich was just cast as Jesse, a recurring character and new love interest for Betty.
Gorham first appeared on “Betty” as a guest star in fall 2006.
2) Courtney Cox is going to join Scrubs for 3 episodes next season on ABC. I don’t know how good of an addition she will be but I would rather just see Molly return as she already has a history. I guess Dr. Cox will be back to; I’ll probably watch the first couple episodes and if they suck I wont watch any more.
Courteney Cox is scrubbing the taste of Dirt out of her mouth.
The former Friends star has signed on for a three-episode guest spot on the upcoming eighth season of Scrubs, E! News confirmed Wednesday.
Now that Dr. Kelso’s retirement has kicked into gear, Cox has been brought onboard to “ruffle feathers” as Sacred Heart teaching hospital’s new chief of medicine, an insider told EW.com, which first reported the casting coup.
Surely that involves butting heads with the other Cox of the walk, the one played by John C. McGinley, and somehow emasculating J.D., right?
We would hope so!
But while Cox will be making a welcome return to situation comedy after playing the decidedly unlovable tabloid editor Lucy Spiller on the FX drama Dirt, which was canceled after two seasons, she will not be doing it on her old NBC stomping grounds.
Unlike Scrubs’ previous seven seasons, this new one will be airing on ABC after the Peacock network opted to release executive producer Bill Lawrence from his contract a year early.
Lawrence originally envisioned ending the quirky medical sitcom this spring, but the writers’ strike mucked up his grand-finale plans. Since Scrubs was already a Touchstone Television (now ABC Studios)-produced show, he figured ABC would give his creation a good home.
