Random happenings at the Kiyoshi household

I don’t know if I mentioned this the last time I was in Mokena visiting Kiyoshi: their 3rd roommate (and for some reason the name escapes me right now) is a fan of the UIUC Chief, and likes to show her admiration by using refrigerator magnets. Last time I was here I got into an argument (because its fun) about how she’s a racist and what not; I know she doesn’t have a counter argument so I can just keep calling her a racist all day (and I did).

Right when I arrived this time I got a phone call from my mom; I was planning on calling her earlier but I still haven’t done it. While I was talking with her, I randomly peeled the magnets off the refrigerator (one was small, the other uselessly oversized… like 18″ diameter). I then placed such magnets underneath the refrigerator to hid them, and I’m just waiting for her to notice. Unfortunately Kiyoshi and Mickey know where I hide them but neither of them care at all about the Chief issue, so they’re more likely to let their roommate bitch and moan once she finds they are missing (as am I). It should be fun, as I think I slid the magnets too far underneath the refrigerator but oh well lol.

Another random happening is that Mickey is no longer a vegetarian, whereas 3 weeks ago he was. Now, I’ve known him for quite a while and I didn’t expect him to remain a vegetarian forever, as I knew him before he was one. Even still, it was quite a bit shocking to hear of his carnivorous mindset now; what am I supposed to make fun of him about if he’s no longer a vegetarian?

So far, that’s all the random happenings that have happened, and I haven’t even been here a day. It could get crazy by the end of the weekend!

Yawn.

Well, I got up not too long ago, which is a good hour or more before yesterday’s time. I’m pretty tired as I didn’t fall asleep until 4 am or so and I didn’t get my required 9 hours of sleep a night.

I got woken up by Mickey at 6 am or so (I believe), he was making some loud noise with a plastic bag (I think he was taking out recyclables?) but that was putting me on life tilt at the time. Truthfully I didn’t care and it was more funny than anything, not as funny though as him waving to me twice. I think I waved back but it was probably more of a ’sleep wave’ than anything.

Then their other roomate wakes me up at probably 8ish, as she doesn’t live far from her work and she’s usually late if I remember correctly. She didn’t hang around long I just know it was her based on previous experience though.

It was hard finding a good sleeping groove on the couch, but once I did I finally got some good zzzz.

Meatloaf, Guitar Hero, Bioshock, GTA 4

Well, I arrive at Kioyshi’s with dead cell phone in hand and we’re starving so we go out to dinner. The place we go to Kiyoshi described it as ‘Family Restaurant,’ which I guess is lingo for cheap, unhealthy but good food. It actually reminded me a lot of the hole-in-the-wall restaurant in the Imperial Palace that I went to everyday while I was in Vegas (The Teahouse).

I felt like it was going to be a Meatloaf night, and it was pretty good. For $9.95, I got 2 slices of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, salad, Diet Coke and ice cream; that’s a lot of food! In total, I don’t think I could make that at home for less than $9.95.

We came back and right away unpacked the Xbox and put in the Guitar Hero. We played some co-op for a few hours which was fun, but when I got smoked playing Metallica’s “One” we both decided to just give up for the night.

Afterward, Kiyoshi put it Bioshock, which I think is a pretty fun game. He kept complaining how it reminded him of Half Life, but I’m going to have to disagree. 1) There are no vents and 2) no creepy crawly things on the floor that you have to shoot. He might have been talking about the lighting and whatnot, but I think the game is quite fun; maybe he’s just not that good at it!

After Bioshock I put in GTA 4 and played that for a bit and completed a couple missions, basically enough to just waste some time before going to bed. Which is what I’m about to do soon!

Dead Phone Battery!

Driving to Kiyoshi’s I remember my phone was low on battery so I tried to grab the charger for my car. No dice! I remembered that I randomly kept in my apartment, although I know it doesn’t make sense on to why it is up there. In fact, I remember bringing it back down to put in my car but for some reason it is no where to be found.

No biggie, I keep my cable for my phone to my laptop, which also charges the phone, in my laptop bag. No dice! This time I had removed the cable to upload some photos and put on my blog. I was too lazy to actually walk the 10 feet last week to put the cable in the bag.

So while talking with my lovely girlfriend Marlyn it cut out on me, although I knew I was low on battery. I just didn’t think I was THAT low on battery. It will definitely be an interesting week without my phone, and if I plan on going to my mom’s it is going to get really annoying.

I’m still not convinced about my car charger, but I will have to look in the morning.

Free Guitar Hero Controller!

Woot! Well, it wasn’t exactly free but close enough. I traded in 4 games: Halo 3, Fifa 2008, Lego Star Wars: Original Trilogy and G.R.A.W. 2; in total these four games got around $45, but Gamestop also gave me a free $20 to go with them because of some promotion. Thus, the total was over $65 and, when combined with my $45 gift card, I well covered the cost of the $70 Wireless Guitar. And, obviously, I still have $40 left on my gift card (which might go towards a Rock Band Drum Set).

So, now Kiyoshi and I can play Guitar Hero Co-op all weekend long! Or at least until our wrists get tired (already done).
