Longer Route

I was able to add 10 minutes today to my roller blading routine. It was a lot harder, not really physically but more of the fact that I have to find new places to roller blade around.

I went 3 blocks West today to start out, which in turn also adds 3 blocks to the East; all of this though only added on an additional 5 minutes to my workout. So, a little disappointed, I decide to go all the way to Lincoln today, whereas I normally cut North at or around the South Quad. I then went along Lincoln all the way to McKinley Hospital where I headed back West. I added another block or so by going all the way around the quad before finally making my normal trip home.

In all it only tallied maybe 15 minutes, as it felt like I went a little faster today but I still need to find a way to add the final 10-15 minutes of distance to make it a total hour. Either way I’d rather roller blade than run so as long as it remains fun I’m going to keep doing it.

Later and Later

I got up today at 1 pm! I don’t care though I guess I’ll let it go as far as I want it to. The only real reason to cut it back is when I go out and visit my Dad, as he gets up like 8 am or so. It only takes me about 3 days to adjust it back, probably even 2 if I try hard enough.

So even though it feels late in the day for everyone else, I’ve only been up for 3 hours and I’m not used to that at all. I got up at 8 am everyday for months so it is definitely weird adjusting to my new schedule.

I’ve already made a trip to CVS to pick up a few random things, including: envelopes, pretzels and hot dog buns (I said it was random). I’ve had a craving for hot dogs for days now and I never had any buns; you also can guess what my breakfast/lunch was lol.

Otherwise I’ve been watching some poker videos and conversing with Fnord about poker strategy over the FTR private message function; I’m just trying to soak everything I can in so that I can play better.

Stocks: Week End 06/28/08

It’s been a couple weeks since I did an update. If I timed my updates better I could make it look like my stocks do nothing but go up up up! In fact last week I dropped a ton of my profit back but fortunately I’m still up!

Basis: $11686.29

Stock Listings

+$141 from gain of ESV sale

+$999.56 Cash (Including $120 dividend from FRO)

Total Account Value: $12,127.17

Total Gain: $440.88 (3.77 %)

Heh, I’m actually up since my last update, but I would be up a lot more but I dropped close to $400 in profit in the last week alone, and as you can see its mainly from MTW, CMCO, and MMM. Luckily FRO and NBR have made up for it in gains themselves. I’ll have to look more deeply into my 3 losers and see if I still like them now as much as I did when I first bought them. If I do, I may decide to purchase some more MTW or MMM if I think they’re going to do well.

Roller Blading Info

I did some research after Marlyn and I questioned how many calories I was burning each day when I went outside Roller Blading for 40 minutes. I knew that riding a bike moderately for an hour would burn around 400 calories, and after telling her that she guessed that Roller Blading would be maximum 150 calories per hour.

I really was hoping it wasn’t that low, as that’s like 1/2 a candy bar lmao and frankly it would barely be worth my time. I did a quick google search and found this detailed list; I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was 600 calories per hour! Woot! That gives me some motivation, right now I’m only doing 40 minutes or so which is 400 calories per day. Every 8 times out there is effectively one pound; it doesn’t sound like much but I guess it adds up.

I should probably push myself to an hour a day and therefore increase it by 50% output. If I do that though, I’ll have to find an extra route to go around as well as find a way to drink some water while I’m out there.

Played today!

I did end up playing 400 NL today, although it totaled only 500 hands or so, and mostly on FTP. I finished up 1 buy in during that stretch, which now puts me at break even during my measly sample.

I think I’m going to keep playing 400 NL and I will eventually get comfortable enough with my play that I will be able to multitable while game selecting. Truthfully in an 8 hour day I’d be able to get in 2,000 hands or so which should be pretty good. I’d have to say that my goal at 400 NL is to win 1 buy in every 2000 hands, or like 2 bb/100. Maybe that’s too high of a goal right now but it is something to shoot for; either way I need experience.

Some interesting hands (you may comment here or on FTR):

QQ on Draw Heavy Board vs Reg
JJ Blind Battle vs Reg

Yeah, I got up late again, I may just keep this same schedule until I have a need to get up early. I made a video for Grinderschool already and I’m debating whether or not I want to keep it. It is due out late next week and I may try for higher poker quality but I need to run it by JGB first.

I am seriously going to try and get some 400 NL hands in. I’ve already watched another DC video and I need to get some experience in. The first thing I’m going to do is move my laptop back over to the dining room and get ready for some serious play.

After I play I am going to get some exercise and then watch the Sox/Cub game tonight.

No Poker, Again.

I again didn’t do too much today, and my plans to play poker were foiled by, err, me? Yeah, I watched a couple hours worth of videos and went over another Regular’s stats to go over his play. One interesting thing that I’ve found from watching some DeucesCracked Vids was 3 betting, and mainly how he did it more randomly than with a certain hand range. This is something for me to think about.

We are approaching the end of the month and as we close in I have to think about what I’m going to do once July 1st comes around, regarding my plans and what not. Do I want to 9 table 200 NL the entire time and do that? Or do I want to continue game selecting the 400 NL game?

I think whatever it comes down to I want to avoid getting into a rut, like playing 100 NL FR for the next 8 months grinding out a profit. I want to get better at poker and move up stakes, I just have to do it. What I may do is just give myself 5 buyins at 400 NL and if I drop that I’ll move down and grind it back up again, after expenses of course.

Also, I need to make sure I’m studying the game more and in that avoid robotic type plays. Hopefully I’ll write about the progress (or lack thereof) that I’m making here..

Congrats Nutsinho!

Alright, well, I called him a douchebag on my blog last weekend but you got to give the guy props for playing this guy HU for $900,000 for like 6 hours in the $5000 6 max event. I watched the entire thing and I wished it had ended earlier so I could do more tonight and study more but it was very entertaining to watch.

He ended up getting 2nd place for around $500,000 after getting it all in like 13 times and in the end he was getting sloppy. I hated the announcers as I streamed it online and watched it mute for a while as I watched other poker videos.

Anyway, congrats Rich!

So I like how yesterday I got up at 11:30, and I bragged how it was an hour earlier than the day before. Today, though, I got up latest yet in weeks! Yeah, 12:45 is the new mark and I don’t know if I like it.

I actually woke up at 9:30, but given that I stayed up until 3:30 am to watch Cocktail on TV I wasn’t satisfied with 6 hours of sleep. Little did I know that 3 hours later I’d get up so late, I’d have settled with 1-1.5 hours.

I guess I’ll get back to poker today, as I have nothing else better to do. I know 0 people in Champaign right now because Kavin is on a road trip in California. Thus I really have no excuses than to sit down and play the game, although I do plan on studying more.

Stuffed Eggplant

After rollerblading for a good 40 minutes again today I came back and made some Stuffed Eggplant from Michael Chiarello. I didn’t have any red peppers so I substituted them with carrots. I know what you’re thinking: That’s a retarded substitution. Oh really?

Probably, lol. Red peppers are sweet and so are carrots when cooked, and carrots replace any crunch that the peppers would have brought. Sure, I can’t replace the red pepper flavor that it brings, but 2 out of 3 isn’t bad and truthfully it’s better than nothing.

Unfortunately I didn’t have any fresh Basil or Parsley this year and instead I had to substitute with the dried stuff. Also, I didn’t have any fresh tomatoes (salmonella heaven) so I had to use canned whole tomatoes. What the heck is Pecorino Romano? I have no idea, I just used Mozzarella instead.

Okay, given the fact that I used all of these substitutions, the eggplant still turned out pretty good. I’ve made better (with the red pepper) but I have the feeling that if I followed the recipe down to the letter it would be pretty amazing.

Up close on just one.

I need some help in plating lol.
